The Miracle Mile and Grey Reef tail-waters are recognized as Blue Ribbon Wyoming fly fishing destinations known for trophy sized Rainbow, Brown, and Cutthroat Trout. The North Platte River in these stretches boasts of very high numbers of fish per mile of river. Wyoming’s Grey Reef has been getting a lot of attention lately as one of the best wild trout fisheries in the lower 48, but don’t worry, there’s plenty of seclusion on these Wyoming Trout fishing waters.

Casper Wyoming Fly Fishing Guide Shop on the Grey Reef
Our Casper Wyoming fly fishing guide shop is conveniently located on the edge of town as you are heading to the Grey Reef sections of the North Platte River. If you want to stay in Casper and be close to fine dining in the evenings, our shop is only a 5-10 min drive in the morning. If you want river lodging and fine dining, then our lodge will be a great fit as it’s located on the Grey Reef below government bridge and 20 miles South of Casper Wyoming. If you would rather have more private lodging accommodations on the river with fly fishing wade access, then our cabins on Grey Reef will be the perfect fit. The Grey Reef dam is only a 10-15 minute drive South of the cabins, and 3-4 miles of public access on Trappers Route below Government Bridge is a short 10-15 min to the North. And of course our fly fishing guides would love to pick you up at either of our Grey Reef lodging locations so you don’t have to drive.
Undoubtedly our most popular and productive trip type, a Wyoming fly fishing float trip allows for the ability to fish miles upon miles of blue ribbon trout water accessible only by ... moreboat. Our private boat ramps on the North Platte River allow our guides for our Grey Reef float trips, to put in ahead of those using public boat ramps. This will help your guide stay ahead of any crowd to keep your experience private.
Our guided float trips are 7-8 hours on the water for a full day, or 3-4 hours on the water for a half day. We’ll pick you up or meet you at a convenient location with everything you need to have a successful day on the river. Our clean, comfortable boats seat two anglers and your experienced guide. Your guide will use his knowledge to put you in position on the best holes and runs on the river, making sure you’ve got the right flies at the right depth, and giving you tips on casting and keeping a proper drift. All you’ve got to worry about is having fun catching trout- no experience necessary! Full day trips will take a break halfway through the day for a riverside lunch on us!
Included: All fishing gear (rods, reels, tippet, flies, etc.), instruction, non-alcoholic beverages, and lunch for full day trips (Mar.16th-Nov.15th). Lunch’s can be added to winter trips(Nov.16th-Mar.15th) for $10 each. You are welcome to bring your own rods, we’ll rig ’em up to be trout slaying machines.

Fishing has been good on the Grey Reef with a mix a low wind and high wind days. To get away from the wind and find great spring fishing, also try the Bighorn. Fish are biting on purple ... morerock worms, orange eggs, and natural leeches.
Fishing is good along the Miracle Mile, especially in the mid-to-late morning. It has been very windy though. Be prepared for winter conditions on roads. One option for great spring ... morefishing to avoid high winds is the Bighorn river (about 2 hr drive from Casper). We have fished well with a variety of flies. Try red San Juan, orange eggs, and brown and natural leeches.

As a result it has blown out the Grey Reef reservoir ... morewhich has in turn dirtied the whole Grey Reef section of the North Platte River below it. Mark grew up in Livingston Montana where he learned to fly fish on the Yellowstone River at the age of 7. Mark is a 12 year veteran guide here on the North Platte River. He has been guiding as long as any guide around. He was formerly the Head Guide for Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing in Casper Wyoming, before moving on. He has since then been guiding for Wyoming Anglers and we are excited to have him on board! Forrest Lewton’s passion for fishing and the outdoors is infectious, growing up amongst the multitude of blue ribbon trout streams in Southwest Montana his love for fishing and the ... moreoutdoors runs deep. Forrest has experience guiding in both the fishing and hunting world and he strives to turn each trip into an enjoyable time for all level of anglers. Forrest finds his enjoyment in meeting and teaching others, and believes learning is a process that should never rend. Forrest feels privileged to have learned the North Platte from Wyoming Anglers owner Luke Keil and long time friend and fellow guide Rob Barnosky. Forrest has moved to Casper to continue pursuing his guiding career with Wyoming Anglers. Forrest attended Azusa Pacific University to study business and compete in track and field. Rob grew up fishing many western Montana rivers such as the Ruby and Jefferson, before finding his favorite waters in Wyoming. Rob began working for Wyoming Anglers as a part-time ... moreguide, but soon realized a love and passion for guiding and chose to guide full-time. In addition to guiding he works as a counselor. Spending each day getting to know people, working in Wyoming’s beautiful outdoors, and sharing his love of fishing attracted him to work as a guide, and his enthusiasm for trout fishing shows through in his work. He prides himself on being hard working, patient, and focused on your experience, and also strives to ensure that at the end of every day with him you have not only caught Wyoming’s beautiful trout, but have also grown as an angler, enjoyed your time with him as a guide, and left with the impression that he worked as hard as possible to provide your ideal day.
