FYI, Just fished most of McCloud and Upper Sac over the weekend. OCT Caddis are hatching everywhere. But most were caught on Red Copper John Nymphs. The 5 to 7 pm “Hatch” was full of BWO, PMD and Oct Caddis, However they liked the littlest Yellow Stonefly hatch most.

Yeah, on the Upper Sac you'll typically do better with a #8 than a #10. Good luck later this month. I walked along a bit of the Upper Sac today; it's looking to be in great shape.

I wondered about the October caddis pattern being so small - until I noticed they were from the east. Size 10 and 12? Our October caddis would kick the east coast October caddis' @$$! I'll be up fishing the hatch later this month on the Mac and Usac. See you on the river or in the hot tub @ Cave Springs.

Thanks Tom, as always. The link regarding old dogs, was a treasure. I don't have an old hunting dog, just one growing older. At my hunting safety class, a West Hartford cop who was giving the class almost broke down when he spoke of having to bury his old bird dog. That tough, grizzled flatfoot was owned by his love for his puppy.

Nothing like the love of a dog..... its sad to see them get old but we won't be all that far behind.... If you want to know who really loves you lock the wife and dog in the trunk and come back in 3 hours. Wonder which one will be glad to see you..... and people wonder why I'm divorced
