Tom Goodman

About
Tom Goodman began fly fishing for trout in Big Indian, NY at age six. He learned his craft on the Esopus Creek, considered by many to be the “Birthplace of American Fly Fishing.” Tom received instruction from several masters of the angler's art that resided in the Catskill's trout mecca during the 1950s. He is graduate of the University of Vermont, with a degree in Biology. Tom settled in Manchester, Vermont where he has been guiding on the Battenkill, Mettowee and other prime trout rivers in the region since 1985.

Formerly the senior guide for The Orvis Outfitters in Vermont, with several years experience as a biology teacher, most recently at the prestigious Stratton Mountain School, few trout guides are as qualified to teach the art and science of fly fishing as Tom Goodman. Each excursion to the river is an adventure, packed with learning and most of all Fun. Tom has averaged 900 hours on the water per year for the last decade. In the off season he is a professional ski instructor, with teaching experience in Vermont, Colorado and Switzerland since 1969.
